We entered the Mammoth Cave National Park area soon after leaving Brownsville, Kentucky.
Houchin Ferry Campground is within the Park. Huge map of the area but unfortunately our route is not marked on it.

Heating inside the tent against medical advice at 445am. 7 degrees at 8am, snowing and windy. Winter!!
Wind at our backs most of the day - after 5 miles stopped at a grocery store, as did 10 others (Butch, Bruce, Lyle, Mike C, Mike H, Cindy, Tish, Tim, Phil, John S) - sat around there till noon and then to Brownsville.
12 degrees at 2pm in Brownsville, sun out, clouds breaking. Many staying in town to dry out. Did not put boots and gloves in bottom of sleeping bag last night - big mistake - so they are solid and cold cold cold now.
Wind died down after sunset. Suppose to hit -5 or -10 degrees tonight.
Using the Houchin Ferry tomorrow morning to cross the Green River. The ferry operator let us leave our boots overnight in his heated "operator's building" - what a luxury!! Not many in camp tonight - Cindy, Marce, Monty, Ed, Keith, Linda, Rex, Mary, Jeff, and I are the only ones here - rest in town or behind?
