Elizabeth Colors

Elizabeth Rocks
Elizabeth Runs

Ryan:  "The 2008 Elizabeth paintings are watercolor portraits commissioned by the parents of an adopted girl. I did four paintings in all. Elizabeth Colors is the first draft of the finished painting they chose to buy, which is already in my online portfolio. My mother and other people love Elizabeth Runs. So do I."

Market Table

Bottle Glass Ball

Market Table
spacerRyan:  "Bottle Glass Ball captures the view from my seat at the kitchen table. I bought the bottle as a birthday present for myself at the 43rd Street Festival of the Arts. Robin Cage, who owns and operates the gallery, is also a good friend and, with her partner Cyane Lowden, our neighbor at our property in the mountains.

The bottle was made by Elizabeth Krome. It is ceramic, intentionally tilted, very heavy, and the best and most beautiful bourbon bottle in the whole wide world. It was one of three sisters huddled together on a table in her booth. She called them "The Gossips" and kissed goodbye my bottle before she wrapped it for me. I felt a little sad about breaking up the group.

The stopper is a glass ball I bought at Crossroads Art Center, where I exhibited my artwork from 2006 to 2008. I don't know the artist who made it. I just love it."

spacerRyan:  "Market Table is a watercolor painting based on photos I took at a farmers market where I had a booth to display my artwork for two Summers in 2007 and 2008 and sold maybe a few dozen notecards of my paintings. I enjoyed meeting some great people and having some good conversations.

One older gentleman and fellow artist visited my booth and admired my artwork. His wife thought he was asking too much money for his paintings, and he pondered whether it was more discouraging to not sell a painting for $500 or to not sell a painting for $200. Market Table now has a home with our friends Mark and Kathy."

Lauren   &   Chair Back

Ryan:  "While browsing through my portfolio I found a page from my sketchbook with the drawing of Lauren on one side and the chair back on the other. Lauren is the daughter of my friends Paul and Jane Petersen, who had asked me to give Lauren an art lesson at the dining table in their home. I am eternally grateful to them and their daughters for their healing ministry to me during a significant transition in my life. They welcomed me in and modeled for me a truly happy, healthy, Christ centered family and Spirit filled home life and inspired me to seek the same for myself. I sent them the original drawings."     "Lauren by Ryan" and "Chair Back by Ryan" Pencil on Sketchbook Paper  ©1991 Ryan Don Bozis
