Some hikers participated in the trail dedication in Lynchburg, Virginia, on this date.
On a 15.2 mile day, several of us hiked the last 6+ miles in the moonlight to reach the summit of Cole Mountain - although the moon was full and bright, the going was a little awkward when the trees obscured the moonlight. Cole Mountain summit was reached on the 18th at night.
